Media Analysis
In this version, VideoSpec allows analysis of one or several files (15 maximum) and an analysis report backup (File Menu -> "Save report..." or Report icon ). You can set the default report format in Preferences. A Compatibility panel (Compatibility icon ) displays several additional infos.
File(s) selection could be done by several means:

1. by clicking on Select icon in the toolbar ,
2. by selecting the "File" menu and then "Select File(s)",
3. by dragging and dropping one or several files on the main window,
4. by dragging and dropping one or several files directly on VideoSpec icon or VideoSpec dock icon,
5. by selecting the file icon then VideoSpec with "Open with" command in the Finder (Contextual menu with ctrl+click or right button+click) ;
6. and finally by dragging and dropping one or several files directly on the multiple analysis window (alt+command+3).

Results obtained after one file analysis are displayed in the main window
as four sections according to the display view (Menu "View" ->
"Simple" or "Complete". You can set the default display view in
Preferences):
· General parameters,
· Video parameters,
· Audio parameters,
· Miscellaneous parameters.
"Expert (MediaInfo) " display view provides analysis infos from MediaInfo CLI, main analysis tool used by VideoSpec.
Results following multiple analysis are displayed in a dedicated window.
Preview is available using mplayer
unix binary tool (Play icon ). There are several recent GUI versions for Mac OS X including one at this address. VLC, another
great app for displaying most multimedia files, is available in place
of mplayer (Setting in general preferences) if it is installled.
Additional Tools
Furthermore, VideoSpec can perform timecode calculations (TC Calculator icon ) as well as various calculations on aspect ratio and pixel dimensions (Tools icon ).
